A Letter from Franklin & Betsy
Hi! We are excited to get to share some of our life with you. We are a bilingual Christian couple who love to laugh and be silly, spend time with our families, and enjoy the outdoors. We speak both English and Spanish in the home and would raise your child to be bilingual as well. We would love to adopt a boy, girl, twins, or siblings of any race up to 5 years old. We are looking forward to hearing from you and getting to know you throughout this adventure!
Franklin is from Nicaragua and Betsy is from Wisconsin. We met at church in Nicaragua when Betsy was there teaching English, and have been married for 6 years. We both love dancing, creating, and teaching choreography. We also both enjoy the great outdoors and love being active in both the summer and winter.
We talked about having children and adopting before we were even married- it has always been something close to our hearts. We are looking forward to spending days playing games and being silly with our kids, make up dances with them, going on adventures, showing them the world, and starting new traditions with them.
What first caught my eye about Franklin was that he is a great dancer and is always smiling! He is patient, calm, and loves to be silly. This really shines through when he coaches his youth soccer team – they adore him! He has a way of making people, from tiny children to elderly adults, feel important and cared for. He’s attentive to others’ needs and looks for ways to encourage them. He enjoys playing soccer, choreographing dances, and fixing things around the house. He is going to be an incredibly fun and loving dad! I know he is excited to teach our child how to work with their hands, appreciate nature and how to play soccer!
Betsy is a very kind, fun and caring person. One of the things I first noticed about her is that she likes to dance, and she makes funny faces when she does! She likes to do all types of art projects, go camping, read, bake, be with friends, and spend time with family. She is a teacher and she loves and cares for her students as if they were her children. She’s going to be a great mom because she loves unconditionally, is playful and creative, and puts others ahead of herself. I know she is looking forward to sharing her love of the arts with our child and teach them to embrace their imagination and passions.
We live in a ranch-style home in Wisconsin. We love our cozy home and have made it feel warm and welcoming to all who come over. We have a relaxing porch overlooking out over our fenced-in backyard, where our 2 dogs love to run around and play. They’re always excited when family and friends visit and especially like playing with kids.
We have 2 schools within three blocks of our home, and many parks and playgrounds within 5 minutes. We look forward to walking our kids to school and the park, pushing them on the swings, and going down the slides together.
Spending time with our family and friends is so important to us. Betsy’s family lives nearby, so we get to regularly see them for dinners, holidays, and other celebrations. Franklin’s family is in Nicaragua and we see them 1-2 times a year and video chat with them every week. Our families are very supportive and loving, and are excited to welcome our children to the family!
Betsy’s family is looking forward to playing charades and silly games with our children, taking them on camping trips, watching outdoor movies, and filling their stockings at Christmas. Franklin’s family is excited to make (and break!) piñatas with our children, teach them traditional Nicaraguan dances, and take them to soccer games.
We also have close friends in both the USA and Nicaragua. Playing board games, having dinner together, and telling stories around the campfire are some of our favorite times with them. Our friends encourage us and cannot wait to meet our children.
We promise to love your child with all our hearts, be full of grace when they make mistakes, and ask for their forgiveness when we do. We promise that they will know their story and how much you love them. We also promise to send pictures and letters to you about their growth, and are open to visits every year. Finally, we promise to teach your child to love all people, be respectful and kind, and to laugh as much as possible.
