A Letter from Michael & Melissa

Thank you for taking the time to read about our family! From swinging, reading, and art crafts to family dinners, deep conversations, and Legoland trips, we are looking forward to including your child in everything we do and are as a family. We are especially excited to encourage them in their interests and giftings while teaching and modeling the love of God to them.

About Us

We met via ChristianMingle in 2012 and have now been married for 8 years! We currently live in Florida and have two sons, Isaac who is 5, and David who is 1. As a family, we enjoy spending quality time together and can often be found enjoying time outside, cooking, reading, learning, laughing, and having deep conversations together. We truly value time spent as a family and make sure to keep God and family at the core of everything we do. Adoption has always had a special place in our hearts, and we are thrilled for it to be a part of our growing family. We look forward to sharing our lives with your child and supporting them as they learn, grow, and discover their passions and giftings!

About Mike, written by Melissa

Mike is quick to bring wit, laughter, creativity, and depth into our home. He is a caring provider, encourages us to pursue our interests, enjoys spending quality time with us, and protects and spiritually leads our family. Mike works for two different Christian ministries and is especially gifted as a teacher and mentor. His favorite interests include weight lifting, reading a variety of books, drawing, and playing his guitar. Mike completes projects around the house, as well as teaches our sons how to work with their hands and build or fix things. He’s taught our oldest son to be a strong, upright, and mature young man. Mike and our sons can often be found wrestling, building legos, reading, or playing outside. He is a consistent and loving father, and I know he’s excited to share his love with your child.

Fun Facts: Mike co-hosts a podcast, is a public speaker, ice skates better than anyone I know, and played hockey in college.

About Melissa, written by Mike

Melissa cares deeply for our family and fills our home with so much love. Her compassion and patience know no bounds and her faith in God is unwavering. She brings so much peace into our home and is a wonderfully nurturing mother to our sons.  Working from home for a few hours every week as a Registered Nurse gives her the opportunity to teach them about new and fun things, play outside with them, teach them the importance of helping others, and be a consistent presence in their lives. She loves brightening other people’s days through gifts, encouragement, attention, or quality time. Reading, cooking, playing piano, and creating Shutterfly books of our family pictures are interests she enjoys. She is a truly wonderful mother, and I know she is excited to share her passion for teaching with your child.

Fun Facts: Melissa knows how to drive a tractor, played in a steel drum band for many years, loves playing sports, and makes the best chocolate chip cookies in the world.

Our Home in Florida

We have lived in sunny Florida for six years and feel rooted here. Our 3-bedroom brick home is located 15 minutes from the ocean and a short drive from the library and park. The neighborhood we live in is quiet with kind, loving neighbors. Being outside is common, with a playground, sandbox, and room for sports and activities! The inside of our home has lots of space with an emphasis on things we enjoy like music, reading, art, cooking, and quality time with family and friends.

Our Sons and Family

Isaac, our 5-year-old son, is active and full of silliness and laughter. His recent interests include swinging, cowboys, playing pretend with his Paw Patrol figurines, and building with legos. He LOVES babies and has become a protective and loving older brother. He is so excited to “play with, live with, sing and read to” your child. David is a content 1-year-old and loves laughing, reading, and exploring. His current favorite interests include spotting airplanes, dancing to music, and playing with trucks.

Melissa’s family is located in Wisconsin, and Mike’s family resides in Michigan. While we live far away from immediate family, we keep in contact frequently via messaging, video chats, emails, and handmade letters or packages. Trips back home are filled with tractor rides, gardening, crafts, baking, beach trips, and lots of quality time and love. Our family and friends also enjoy visiting us and are thrilled to welcome your child into our family.

Our Promise

We promise to raise your child as our own in a foundation of love and truth rooted in Christ, both taught and by example of how we live and love. We promise to share their story with them and teach them to be proud of it. We will encourage your child to pursue their passions and follow God. We will provide them with a solid education focused on their individual gifts. We will raise them in an environment where mistakes are encouraged as a part of learning and will rejoice with them as they master new skills. We promise to protect, encourage, and fill their life with rich and rewarding moments.
