A Letter from Jeff & Emily
Hello from Louisiana!
Thank you for learning more about us. As a family already built through open adoption, we are excited to grow our family again. We feel that God led us to adoption and we would love to open our hearts and home to your child. We look forward to welcoming him or her on our daily adventures around our farm, sharing faith, love, and lots of laughter. We hope you see in us what you want for your child. When you’re ready, we would love to hear from you and the hopes you have for your child through adoption.
We met at work where we are both biologists, working to protect and recover endangered animals. Our love of nature and shared sense of humor brought us together. We have been married for 9 happy years and have created a life that we love with our beautiful daughter, Oaklyn. The three of us look forward to sharing our life and love with your child.
• Enjoy time outdoors, especially with the animals on our farm or in our garden.
• Love music (we often have sing-alongs in the car or kitchen and silly dance parties)
• Cherish dinners together around the kitchen table and spend evenings at the fire pit roasting marshmallows or snuggled up watching a movie.
• Go to the numerous family-friendly festivals and parades Louisiana is famous for (we love the excellent Cajun cuisine!)
• Take family vacations & explore new places in the US and abroad (the beach is a favorite!)
Emily is friendly, outgoing, sweet, and always has a positive attitude. She is an amazing mother, and enjoys anything that means caring for our family. Whether it’s grocery shopping, cleaning, seasonal decorating, playing games, singing, or cuddles and movies on the couch with Oaklyn, Emily’s nurturing heart just lights up.
She enjoys horseback riding, working in her veggie garden, and baking (her chocolate chip cookies are a family favorite!). Emily is even good on the tractor, and enjoys helping to keep up the farm. She loves sharing her love (and secret cookie recipe!) as a mom.
Fun Fact: Emily is a certified horse massage therapist.
Jeff is extremely loving, a great listener, incredibly handy, and has a great sense of humor. He’s very caring and attentive; he takes great care of his family. He’s strong in his Faith and an active member of our church. Outside of working the farm, Jeff enjoys football, working out, reading, and tweaking his secret recipe for his amazing ribs.
As a dad, he’s always teaching Oaklyn new things and can make her giggle like no one else. Jeff is Oaklyn’s favorite for bedtime routines. I’ve been blessed to see what an amazing role model Jeff already is to his two adult children. I know that he will continue to be an involved, loving, supportive dad to our children.
Fun Fact: Jeff is into strength workouts & enjoys woodworking.
We live on a 20-acre farm in a two-story, country style home with tons of light and 5 bedrooms. There’s a large kitchen where Emily does all her baking, a library for cozy reading and playing games, and plenty of room to play inside and out.
We love our farm and look forward to the memories our kids will have growing up here. Oaklyn already loves running around with our sweet dogs, riding the tractor with us, collecting eggs from our chickens, playing basketball, and going on local road trips in one of our classic cars. She’s excited to teach her little brother or sister about brushing the horses, picking fresh veggies from the garden, and showing them the best climbing trees. So are we!
We were blessed to adopt our daughter, Oaklyn, who is 4 years old. We have a wonderful relationship with her biological family and are grateful to have them as part of our family. We love watching Oaklyn grow and see her personality come out. She LOVES being outside, making and coloring cards, swinging, the TV show Bluey, and her pony, Lilly. She’s excited about having a sibling and has helped get the nursery ready. She will be the sweetest big sister!
Jeff has two grown children from a previous marriage, Michael and Paige, who are excited to welcome another sibling. Our families have been very supportive of our adoption journey. They were ecstatic when Oaklyn became our daughter! We travel often to see family in Tennessee and New York. It’s fun to get together, and plan trips to see each other throughout the year.
We promise to love and cherish your child. We will offer him or her a safe, stable home full of support to pursue his or her talents or dreams. Each of us grew up involved in music, sports, and scouts, and we hope to share these opportunities with our children, if they are interested. We promise to be the best cheerleaders as parents! We will pass down our values for hard work, education, compassion for others, and appreciation for the outdoors. We promise to give our love, affection, and guidance to help your child grow strong spiritually, mentally, and physically.
Thinking of you, Jeff & Emily
