A Letter from Jon & Kristen
Hello from Ohio! We are so excited to be back in the adoption process after unexpectedly getting pregnant with our daughter in 2018. We feel incredibly blessed that we not only got to experience the miracle of getting pregnant after years of infertility, but also get to experience the miracle of adopting a child into our family. We eagerly await the opportunity to hear from you and get to know you!
We grew up on opposite ends of the country (Kristen up north, and Jon down south), ended up going to the same college, but didn’t meet until a job interview brought us together. We’ve been inseparable ever since, married now for eight years, and we share a love for learning about other cultures, traveling the world, and reading/any kind of storytelling.
They do say opposites attract, and while what ultimately made us a good match was our shared faith, values, and passion for serving people (and our mutual love for Harry Potter), we are different when it comes to what we like to do for fun. Jon loves to go explore new places and take the family on adventures, while Kristen loves to have traditions and seeks out familiar, cozy, and comfortable experiences.
The three words that I think best describe Kristen are kind-hearted, empathetic, and driven. She never stops trying to make our lives better, whether it’s painting a room in our house, planning our next vacation, or managing our finances. In everything she does, she gives 100% of herself, and that includes being a mom. Additionally, she is always thinking of ways to be a blessing to other people during their times of need – whether it’s bringing over a meal, sending a card or text message, or praying fervently for their situation. She is and will be a sacrificial and generous mother to our child and future children.
Jon is the kind of guy I always dreamed of marrying – loyal, cheerful, and affectionate. He is our cheerleader, always giving myself and our daughter words of affection and encouragement. His favorite thing in the entire world is to laugh, and if he can help make other people laugh, he beams from ear to ear for the rest of the day. Sometimes I catch him practicing comedy routines in the bathroom mirror and singing goofy songs in the shower! If that isn’t enough, he continually demonstrates selflessness in his care of us, putting our needs above and beyond his own.
We experienced the greatest joy so far in our lives when our daughter Mila (pronounced Me-la) joined us in October 2018. She is and always has been an incredibly social baby. She loves people and other children so much! She also loves blowing raspberries, being thrown into the air, and going new places on adventures (just like daddy!).
We live in a 4 bedroom house across the street from the elementary school and have a huge backyard with lots of space for a child to run around and play. Our special Winnie the Pooh, Hundred Acre Wood nursery is ready and waiting for our adopted child. We also have a large finished basement that we are in the process of turning into a playroom. It’s fun to take long walks or bike rides around the neighborhood and look at the beautiful trees and homes.
We love to explore the city we live in and go to special events like festivals, parks, fairs, and farmer’s markets. We have an amazing church community we are a part of that feels like one big family. We have bonfires, cookouts, and game nights each year.
We promise to adore your child and give them every opportunity to explore their interests. We promise to teach them to treasure their relationships with family and friends more than anything else in the world. We promise to promote an environment of creativity, where your child can let their imagination soar. We promise to demonstrate the unconditional love of God to your child so that His will can be done in your child’s life. We are open to sharing letters, photos, and visits. |More About Our Family|
|Our Family and Traditions|
Jon's mother and brother live within an hour of our home and come over for dinner each week. Kristen's large extended family (brother and sister, niece, parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, etc) lives in California, and we visit them once or twice a year.
Each season brings something fun and new to our household. In the summer, we visit the zoo often (they just added a dinosaur world!) and float down the lazy river at the water park. Fall is filled with picking apples, eating pumpkin rolls, and dressing up for Halloween. In the winter, we watch all of our favorite Christmas movies, drink lots of hot chocolate, and go ice-skating and sledding.
We are actively involved in our inner city, multi-cultural Christian church. Jon is part of the finance team while Kristen helps with the Children's ministry. We believe that a part of living out our faith means serving others who may be homeless, refugees, or individuals needing special care and attention. Additionally, we make prayer a priority each day as we have seen the power of prayer to change our lives and the lives of others. We are part of a community group at church where two other families have adopted children.

One of our greatest joys in life is serving God by serving other people. We love to be there for our friends and family who have a need, even if it's just by making them dinner or sending them a card to cheer them up. We hope to have the opportunity to do the same for you and your child. If you'd like more information or would like to speak with us, please contact Lifetime Adoption at 1(800) 923-6784.
