A Letter from Rob & Ruth

Hello from Alaska!

We are Rob and Ruth and we are excited to start on this journey to grow our family.  We knew when we were dating that we would be unable to have a child of our own. Long before this, we each felt led to adoption. We are both nurse practitioners. We are outdoor people and love being in nature in both the winter and summer months. We look forward to sharing our love of others and nature with your child. We look forward to getting to know you and would like to share an open adoption with you if you are comfortable

About Us

We met at work through mutual friends and over time grew to become friends. Rob decided to move to Alaska and we started dating. We were married in 2018 just after Ruth graduated. We knew before we were married that we would not be able to have biological children and had already individually contemplated adoption. We enjoy adventures whether this be traveling, outdoor activities, or learning a new skill. We love hiking, fishing, and camping together- all things that we look forward to sharing with our child. We both have a heart for missions and helping others around the world. Locally we feel called to aid our own community via medical care. Faith is crucial to our daily lives. We are called to love others and should do the best that we can to share His love with everyone we meet. We are excited to teach and share these beliefs with your child.

About Rob

Rob is energetic, social, patient, and fun-loving. He has a heart for people and loves talking with anyone and everyone. Rob is a helper to all and thrives in teaching and aiding others. He has a special way with children and is always able to put them at ease quickly. This is especially helpful in his work as he works with people and children of all ages. Rob is goofy, quick to laugh, and makes others laugh. He makes chores fun and is always looking for opportunities to try new things. Some of his hobbies include fishing, hunting, hiking, playing games, and talking with people. Rob is so excited to share his passion with our child and looks forward to teaching him/her important outdoor life skills like fishing, hunting, and survival skills.

About Ruth

Ruth looks for opportunities to excel and capitalizes on them. She is cool, calm, collected, adventurous, and with a “just do it” attitude. She is a supporting and loving person who enjoys helping others achieve their goals. She grew up in the mission field of Mexico and wishes to continue by ministering to others by giving health care as a nurse practitioner to those without access. She loves spending time with children and nurturing them to become their best possible selves.  She enjoys gardening, sewing, knitting, hiking through nature, and fishing. She looks forward to teaching our child all about nature, working hard to achieve your goals, and help them grow as an individual.

Home in Alaska

Our home is 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom and located on a lake with a beautiful view of the mountains. It is very open and provides a lot of space to share with family and friends. We have 2 energetic dogs- Abby and Koda, who love to swim in our lake or explore the woods around our home. We enjoy hosting neighbors and friends for cookouts, lake time, or just rest and relaxation. We are close to trails and can go hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling with just a short walk.  One of our favorite past times is looking out from our porch or table at the Chugach Mountains or watching the animal life from our porch- especially the moose, eagle, and lake birds.

Our Family

Our families are large, full of teachers, and full of love. Rob has 2 siblings and 2 step-siblings who live in Alaska, Michigan, and New Mexico. His extended family spans the Midwest. Ruth’s parents live in Indiana and her sister is in Kentucky. Her extended family is spread across the country. The running joke is that we can find a relative in almost every state of the country. Both sides have annual family reunions so people can stay in touch. We are constantly keeping in touch with our families via phone calls, texts, or face time. Both sides love games and will spend most evenings together playing any and every kind of game. Rob’s family is excited to spoil another grandchild and Ruth’s parents are ecstatic to have their first.

Our Promise

We promise to raise your child in a loving, stable home where they will be nurtured to grow in God’s love. We will ensure that they have educational opportunities both in schooling and out in nature. They will grow with many adventures, love, and family in a Christ-centered home. We are open to staying in contact with you in any way you feel comfortable and will honor whatever type of relationship you desire. We will share our family’s adoption story with your child and always speak of you with gratitude and keep you forever in our prayers.

More About Our Family
Our Special Interests

We enjoy outdoor activities: hiking, snowshoeing, 4 wheeler, or snowmobiling. We like fishing and camping and have had the opportunity to go deep-sea fishing for halibut in our home state. We also desire to work in medical missions in areas where access to care is limited. We have friends who work in South America where medical care is needed and we hope in the future to offer help to the local population. We believe tasks are best performed as a family with everyone participating in whatever way they can as this not only builds life skills but grows family bonds. This is something we look forward to sharing with our child.

Our Faith

Faith is crucial to our daily lives. We believe because of Jesus' sacrifice, we need to live our lives as he would. We are called to love others and should do the best that we can to share his love with everyone we meet.

Our Musical Interest

Very varied! Music is a way to experience different cultures so we listen to music in many different languages. There is nearly always music playing in our home but it can be from folk, Christian, rock, classical, salsa, or oldies. Rob enjoys swing and big band music as he plays trombone. Ruth is more mellow and plays guitar. We want everyone in our home to learn to play a musical instrument as we feel that music is an important aspect of our lives.

About Our Home

Our current home is a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house outside of Wasilla. We share it with 2 energetic dogs. It has a lot of space for a growing family and sits on a large wooded area by a lake. There are projects to be done as is always the case, but we greatly appreciate all our space and the large outdoor area for recreation.
